Visited New Zealand for a holiday went via Singapore with travel bag? After hours of flying with Singapore Airlines www.singaporeair.com/, the plane touched down at Singapore and we had a 7 hour waiting time before boarding the next flight to Auckland, New Zealand. www.changiairport.com/ is huge...approximately 5 floors and on the top even boasts of a swimming pool (we never got the time to check it out unfortunately). Also all visitors are invited (and took up the invite) to go on a quick bus/coach tour around the Island in between waiting for their next flight. The airport is air conditioned, so when you step outside the humidity makes a stark contrast and is very clammy. On the air conditioned coach I tried to keep my eyes open for the tour, but was so exhausted from the long flight that struggled alot. I was very impressed though with how organised and efficient everything was. Read something about Singapore celebrating its 100th millionaire. We then boarded our plane to Auckland. Can't remember much of this flight again, think it was with a different carrier, we got given headphones on both flights and enjoyed 24-7 inflight entertainment, watching films and listening to music, radio and checking the map to see how far we had flown and how soon we were going to arrive at our destination.

We arrived in Auckland and got a transfer from the airport to our hotel which was near the harbour. The room we stayed in was nice, but can't remember much about it, wish I'd written this years ago. The impression we got of Auckland as most people get is it is much like England except the roads are larger and it feels a lot quiter than London. We went on a boat cruise over the harbour and ate out in some unusual places and ate some unusual things, like fried baby eels.

We got a ferry across from Auckland to Davenport, a small island across the harbour which houses a lot of rich New Zealenders. When we got to the other side we had fish and chips, although the fish was shark fish and the chips were more like french fries. We also got told by a tour guide that the term POM standards for Prisoner of Mother England, as most of New Zealand and Australia's white inhabitants originate from the prisoners sent over centuries ago.

We then took another short flight on a smaller plane than the ones we flew from the UK on and arrived in Christchurch to be greeted by Ewan's parents at the airport.
